Environmental Sustainability

As the Vail Valley saying goes, “you come for the winters, and stay for the summers.” Regardless, it only takes a moment to fall in love with the beauty of The Rocky Mountains. The love of the mountains brought us here, and we want future generations to have the same opportunity. At The Bunkhouse, we are passionate and committed to the sustainability of the surrounding mountain environment. We consider the ecological, economic, and social health of our community and valley of significant importance. The Bunkhouse has taken conscientious steps in the creation of a sustainable business.  Therefore, we have been officially certified as an Actively Green Sustainable Business presented by Walking Mountains Science Center. Through a partnership with the global non-profit Sustainable Travel International, the Eagle Valley has its own credible certification and sustainability system. This training really gave The Bunkhouse staff a deeper understanding of sustainability practices and new tools to implement sustainability in daily operations.

How you can help

We encourage all of our guests to join us in our conservation efforts.  We happily provide recycling and composting receptacles on site. In addition to, we have a water filtration system so guests may bring their own reusable water bottles reducing plastic bottle waste.  Other fun green facts to note about The Bunkhouse:

  • We clean with all organic, non-toxic cleaning and laundry products.
  • Whenever possible, we purchase recycled paper products.
  • We reused the original kitchen cabinets and insulation materials during our remodel.
  • The Bunkhouse furnishings have numerous pieces purchased from The Habitat Restore, keeping them out of the landfill.
