SKIING AND RIDING
Vail is an amazing mountain because it’s huge, it averages 350 inches of snow per year, it’s accessible to all abilities, and most importantly, it’s only 5 minutes from The Bunkhouse! It’s one of the largest ski resorts in the world, with more than 5,200 acres of terrain, seven Back Bowls spanning seven miles, and exceptional grooming. The Legendary Back Bowls offer wide open skiing and amazing views. The front side of Vail Mountain has exceptional grooming, long mogul runs such as Prima and Highline, and plenty of green cruisers for those less adventurous. Regardless of your hip swiveling ability and enthusiasm, Vail’s got your back.
SKIING AND RIDING
Don’t forget Adventure Ridge open in the afternoon and into the evening with ski bikes, kids snowmobile track, a slippery slope of rowdy tubing lanes and more. BEAVER CREEK
Beaver Creek is lauded as one of North America’s premium ski resorts. A mountain gleaming with luxuries, amenities, and complimentary hot cookies served in the village, you are not exactly roughing it in this community.
With over 1800 skiable acres and a leg burning 3340 vertical feet, Beaver Creek has something for all abilities. Beaver Creek is renowned for their exceptional grooming ability.
The nice easy cruisers at the top of chair #8 (Cinch Express), to the steep racy lines accessed from chair #6 (Centennial Express Lift), the corduroy will not leave you in despair. If you like a challenge and have the lungs along with it, try Grouse Mountain. Accessed from chair #10 (Grouse Mountain Express) these long, steep mogul runs will challenge even the greatest hot dogs around.
For All Skill Levels
The Bunkhouse recommends Beaver Creek if you’re interested in longer, steeper pitches without the crowds. Beaver Creek Village is promoted as a luxury courtyard. High end retailers and some of the finest dining in the Valley from the Chateau’s Splendido restaurant to the Pines Lodge Grouse Mountain Grill. There are also casual options The Bunkhouse recommends; Blue Moose Pizza and the Dusty Boot offering pub fare at a reasonable price. OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
Adventure Ridge in Vail is a Bunkhouse staff favorite. Get your adrenaline flowing with a zipline tour, test your strength with some rock climbing, or just chill out and play some disc golf. Requires a ski pass or a day lift ticket for $25.00 in the summer.
HIKING
Hiking is always a favorite. The Vail Valley is home to world class hiking all around us. For advanced hikers, we recommend the Grouse Creek Trail Head just 1 mile west of us on US, Rt-6. There is a parking lot at the trailhead. This wonderful ascent will take you roughly 3500 vertical feet to Grouse Lake. Great views and a better workout.
PICNICS
For novices, ascending Meadow Mountain, an additional mile further east on Rt-6 consists of a wide logging road that winds a few miles to the top. Great for an afternoon picnic.
